About my writing

f5c9c-dec2b302c2b20142b113a513a342bamNormally, each day I work on a different book. I have four in various stages of being finished but for some reason I seem to stay on the rewrite of one of my old books being transformed from tell to show that I feel most people will enjoy more. It is one of my lesser known books that I have renamed “Dangerous Rescue”  I am nearing the end and will next have it edited before re-publishing. Speaking of editing, right now my popular Chronicles of the Marauder- Marauder Rising is having a face lift, re-editing that I think will make it even more popular. The nice thing about being an indie author you can go back and make the book more to your liking without anyone telling you that you can’t. My book “Lightning Rages” is still being edited. It has been started editing but is a long way from being done. My book “IronHeart” about a you man forced to grow up suddenly when his parents are killed in a car crash where he finds his parents were less than model citizens and involved with some unsavory characters and professions. He finds a half brother and sister that he didn’t know existed. “Unlucky Penny” another book I am writing also is a story about a female police officer that kills a unarmed black woman. My western is down to the last two chapters then it will be going into the list to be edited by my editing team. I never realized editing takes so long but when it is done word for word and line by line it takes time. Well enough junk today about my writing, talk back, I’m listening.

Have a great day and a great week. What are your plans for this week?

This world we live in is a bizarre environment as we try to keep our strength but we fight the windmills in endless adventures. We destroyed real courage to face challenges. We worry all the time saying that anyway is not in our power to change things.Sometimes we meet providential people, people who transform collective fears in heroes. This kind of  people are invincible, unstoppable and unforgettable.
Malala Yousafzai’s book – “I Am Malala” is a disturbing story, full of drama and hard lessons of life.

“IF ONLY THERE WAS MUSIC…”: The Poetry of Forbidden Love” celebration of INTERNATIONAL POETRY MONTH!

Day 4/Post 1 of the “CELEBRATING POETRY AS LOVE” BLOG TOUR

Thank you all for allowing me to 1If Only There Was Music book covercelebrate INTERNATIONAL POETRY MONTH with you by sharing excerpts from my first co-authored poetry book,  “IF ONLY THERE WAS MUSIC…” The Poetry of Forbidden Love.  Here is a bit of the book’s introduction below:

“Ever read poetry that was so soothing, so mellow, and just so perfectly sweet, you felt it should have been a love song?  “IF ONLY THERE WAS MUSIC…” is just that kind of poetry…but it’s also poetry written about forbidden love.
Back in the summer of 2014, I was approached by an up-and-coming author by the name of Giani Jordan.  Giani said that he had been following my writing for over a year and was extremely impressed.  He was reaching out to me because he wanted to collaborate on a poetry book.  Well, since I didn’t know Giani and wouldn’t attach my name or my writing with just anyone, I asked if he would send me a few samples of his work, and he did.  I was blown away by the intensity and the depth of this man’s writing, and wanted to know more about this person he clearly was in love with and was writing so fervently about.”
In summation, Giani was in love with a woman {Christine}, who belonged to another, and to make this situation even more complicated, he, himself was also involved in a relationship.

The “snippet” of poetry which you are about to read below, is one where Christine is sharing with the world how much her forbidden, distant lover means to her.  Take a peek:

“PRICELESS”

There are many things that can be easily measured in dollars and pounds…

But what he gives me is priceless.

It’s a blessing to have tons of friends around…

But what he gives me is priceless.

I’m aware the cost of clothing and material things…

But what he gives me is priceless.

I’m aware the joy that having kids brings…

But what he gives me is priceless.

(MISSING VERSES)

So, although there is much that comes with cost

His love is given freely and without it, I’m lost.

Because all that he gives me…PRICELESS.

If you’d like to read the balance of this particular piece, I invite you to pick up your own copy of “IF ONLY THERE WAS MUSIC…” The Poetry of Forbidden Love on Amazon.  I’d also like to invite you to follow this tour in its entirety as each day, at each stop, you will find more and more of these love songs without music, and even more reasons to fall in love with your lover, and Poetry, again. If you aren’t in love when you start reading this book, you will go seeking a love afterwards.
Please visit my complete tour line-up HERE, and at each stop that you leave a comment (including this one), your name will be entered that number of times, into a random drawing for a $25 Amazon Gift Card!!!
Thanks to my awesome host for today, and thanks for stopping by, dear Guests.  I hope to see you every day throughout this amazing tour to help keep Poetry alive!!!  Always remember, that Love IS Poetry…they’re truly one in/and the same.

#Monday Blogs: Traditional vs. Self vs. Indie: What is the best way to get published?

Nicely put. A good way to view publishing and choices. A.G.

Shannon A. Thompson

Intro:

I have had the great honor of getting to know Kasi Blake through Clean Teen Publishing, and let me tell you guys, she is someone to watch. Her imagination began writing stories at a young – including one that was inspired by Star Wars – and she wrote across many genres. Now, she writes paranormal romance and urban fantasy…and of course, this lovely blog post about a constantly debated topic in the publishing world: which route do I take?

Traditional vs. Self vs. Indie: What is the best way to get published?

This question has been up for debate for some time, and that is why I am doing a post on it. However, I will not be telling you what you should do. Writing is a business with more than one way to do things. With that in mind, I will tell you about my experiences as…

Tattered Thoughts

f5c9c-dec2b302c2b20142b113a513a342bam Sitting here watching the rain blowing sideways by the north wind during this storm, my mind drifts from thought to thought. The blowing of the trash can lids down the street and into the neighbors yard forced me to go out. it took only a minute or two for me to get wet and cold. putting on a Pendleton shirt  finally brought my arms warm and stopped the shivering. The wind must be gusting between forty and fifty miles per hour along with some times getting higher. The wind and flood advisories seem to be the greatest concern with this storm. I am now back to my thoughts, my mind keeps jumping to the different books I have yet to complete. Normally, it settles on one thought and I work on that book but today it keeps jumping from one book to another. I don’t dare work on one or I might mix them up and put characters from one book into another, totally confusing my readers and me when I start going back through it. LOL

That is why I decided to blog instead of writing. I am glad I’m am, I can’t seem to spell today either. Thank goodness for spell check. Have you ever had one of those days?

Don’t expect much out of me today so talk back, I’m listening even if I can’t spell.

UPSIDE DOWN by LIZ GAVIN Blog Tour

UPSIDE DOWN TOUR

Thank you AWESOME READER for visiting today and AMAZING HOST for having me in your blog!!

RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB

As I said on my first post this week, – if you missed it just check the lineup for UPSIDE DOWN BLOG TOUR at 4WillsPublishing site and read it. Then hurry back here. We’ll be waiting for you!! – I’ve pounded the proverbial pavement, albeit the online one, for the longest time before finding an oasis where writers are truly appreciated based on fundamental characteristics such as talent, commitment and support of others. Yes, I’m talking about the AWESOME book club that Nonnie Jules put together to generously help promote fellow indie authors. She is so amazingly supportive and hardworking she’s known to us as ‘WonderWoman’. Let me tell you Nonnie would give the super-hero a run for her money if Diana Prince existed in real life. That’s how great Nonnie Jules is!

I’m proud to serve on the Governing Board of Rave Reviews Book Club as Admin Assist 2 and I assure you there’s NO OTHER PLACE for Authors and Readers to be. For those of you who don’t know RRBC yet, let me tell you my story.

On February 1st 2015, I woke up to some great news.  My book Luck of the Irish was # 112 in the Kindle Store. Granted, there had been a FREE PROMO on the day before but I celebrated the ranking position anyway. The book had had 2,045 downloads in a single day and that alone was quite an achievement for an indie book with an advertisement budget of exactly $0. Yes, ZERO! LOL

However, I ALSO knew I couldn’t have done it without Rave Reviews Book Club and the support of its amazing members. You see, I had joined the club a year before but, aside from some reviews and tweets, I hadn’t been an active member until January 2015, for many personal reasons that had nothing to do with the Club.

During January 2015, I volunteered for the Tweet Team (which has been an AWESOME experience so far), became a Blog Tour Host, participated in blog tours as visitor and as an author, NONNIE JULES received me for an interview on her famous shelf, the Governing Board invited me to work with them, and this month of April Luck of the Irish has been chosen as one of the three BOOKS OF THE MONTH. It’s the highest honor for an author- member and I still haven’t recovered from the shock of having been chosen! I found out a couple of hours ago, so forgive me if I’m still pinching myself! LOL

Voilá! RRBC’s slogan came to life – SUPPORT others and you’ll be SUPPORTED. It’s as simple as that and that is the BEAUTY of this ethos, which in turn creates an invaluable supportive system, a safety net that allows us to dream of higher flights.

But don’t take my word for that! Check out our website and read some of the testimonials there and you’ll understand why Rave Reviews Book Club is THE PLACE for you to be!!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for the next leg of my UPSIDE DOWN BLOG TOUR! Check the lineup for UPSIDE DOWN BLOG TOUR at 4WillsPublishing site to know where to go.

Please, leave your thoughts below before you go!

Author Bio

When Liz Gavin was in Second Grade – just a couple of years ago, really – her teacher told her mother the little girl should start a diary because she needed an outlet for her active and vivid imagination. She was a talkative child who would disrupt the class by engaging her colleagues in endless conversations. She loved telling them the stories her grandfather used to tell her.

Apparently, the teacher wasn’t a big fan of those stories, and Liz’s mother bought her a diary. She happily wrote on it for a couple of months. Unable to see the appeal of writing for her own enjoyment only, she gave up on it. She missed the audience her friends provided her in class. She went back to disturbing her dear teacher’s class.

Since then, she has become a hungry reader. She will read anything and everything she can get her hands on – from the classics to erotica. That’s how she has become a writer of erotica and romance, as well.

As a young adult, she participated in a student exchange program and lived in New Orleans for six months. She fell in love with the city and its wonderful inhabitants. NOLA will always hold a special spot in Liz Gavin’s heart. Nowadays, living in Brazil, Liz’s creativity has improved many times because it’s such a vibrant, gorgeous and sexy country.

Welcome to her world of hot Alpha males and naughty, independent women. Add a touch of the paranormal in the presence of some wicked souls and you’ll get the picture.

Book Blurb

Carol Anne Sullivan is a tough New York stock broker. She’s suffered enough in order to learn a hard lesson – never let love spoil her relationships. Her boyfriends know that rule from the start. She’s domineering and assertive but also faithful and fair while the relationship lasts.

Mark Aikens is Carol’s boyfriend. He’s been in love with her for a while but his submissive side hasn’t allowed him to rebel against her golden rule and to tell her how he feels. Fear of losing her forever might spur him into action.

Cindy O’Rourke has admired Carol from afar. So, she jumps at the opportunity to work for her idol. Little does she know, things will never be the same for her after that job interview

Carol has been going through a rough patch: world economical crisis, dysfunctional parents, demanding clients, faulty equipment. Without much time for herself, her love life is suffering. So what is the big deal if she fantasizes about a new employee when her boyfriend, Mark, can’t give her what she needs? The big deal is – the new receptionist, Cindy, is a woman who threatens to turn her world upside down

This is the steamy tale of an unconventional love triangle which should be read with an open mind and an open heart. Sometimes, love comes to our lives in unexpected ways but with such overwhelming power that the best course of action might be to surrender to it.

WILL O’ THE WISP book tour by Craig Boyack

Book Cover

What I wanted out of this story

Will O’ the Wisp is the newest release from C. S. Boyack. It involves a mildly handicapped girl facing a mysterious threat. The wisp has been killing off Patty Hall’s family for generations, and she’s next on the list. It is suitable for young adult readers.

I’ve blogged many times about how I set challenges for myself with each novel. These won’t be evident to the reader, but they help me grow as an author. At various times the challenge is as simple as writing a buddy story, or using fairy tale structure.

In Will O’ the Wisp, I wanted to add another tool to my writer’s toolbox. This is my first story written in first person point of view. It involved a little hair pulling at first, because “meanwhile, back at the ranch” isn’t possible. If Patty Hall can’t see it, read it, or hear it, it cannot be inserted into the story. It’s a wonderful challenge, and one every author should attempt at least once.

I also wanted to use some of my suspense techniques. I have a living document where these tips have been languishing long enough. It was time to take them out and play with them.

There were challenges in writing this tale, to be sure. Not the least of which is a 54 year old man writing from the perspective of a 15 year old girl. Never one to run from a challenge, I referred to my raising of a fifteen year old girl. According to my advance readers, I pulled it off just fine. We authors worry about everything, and the reader is the ultimate judge here.

This doesn’t mean all my other tools were off limits. I still managed to shoehorn in a couple of fairy tale elements. As an example, the color purple appears three times in the story at defining moments in Patty’s journey.

I also relied upon a technique I call plants and payoffs. The story is filled with seemingly small elements that wind up playing more important roles later on. This is a fun technique to use. This is how 70s pop culture icon Euell Gibbons and the words of Abraham Lincoln got into my story.

Sometimes I am satisfied with my personal goals, sometimes they fall a bit short. This is all personal growth information, and doesn’t reflect in the story itself. The stories are solid, and readers should enjoy them. In the case of Will O’ the Wisp, all my goals were exceeded. I am very happy with this story.

Will O’ the Wisp is suitable for a young adult crowd. All my advanced readers are adults, and they seem to have enjoyed it too. I never set out with a goal like that in mind, and don’t shy away from adult themes. Several of my stories are better suited for adults. The Cock of the South can be brutal and bloody at times. Arson gets hot in more ways than one. Will O’ the Wisp didn’t need any of that, and it would detract from the story. I wouldn’t be afraid to share it with my oldest granddaughter.

***

Patty Hall is perfectly prepared for the wrong problem. She is enamored with the space race, and knows the history of NASA by heart. She is faced with an ancient threat that has been targeting the Hall family for generations.  Hampered by an overprotective mother, if Patty can’t figure it all out in time, she may be the next member in the Hall family cemetery plot.

It’s not hard enough to be a fifteen year old girl, and a social outcast. As she watches her friends mature and grow, she has to face the idea of never turning sixteen. Please consider joining Patty on her incredible adventure.

Author Bio:

I was born in a town called Elko, Nevada. I like to tell everyone I was born in a small town in the 1940s. I’m not quite that old, but Elko has always been a little behind the times. This gives me a unique perspective of earlier times, and other ways of getting by. Some of this bleeds through into my fiction.

I moved to Idaho right after the turn of the century, and never looked back. My writing career was born here, with access to other writers and critique groups I jumped in with both feet.

I like to write about things that have something unusual. My works are in the realm of science fiction, paranormal, and fantasy. The goal is to entertain you for a few hours. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Need a little help

I am currently rewriting one of my earlier books renamed “Dangerous Rescue” aboard the jetliner I am adding eight Muslim characters. I need help in naming them with common names for Muslim’s. Normally, I just make up names for my characters but I don’t want to insult anyone. So I am asking your help in giving them names. They do not have to be actual names but sound authentic enough to be real.  I will describe my characters and ask for fitting names for each.  A man about twenty-nine with a female wife and ten year old son. The wife’s brother about twenty-seven and his two wives and one daughter age six and a son age nine. If you can help me, I would appreciate this. either email me at agmoye.moye406@gmail.com or comment on this post. Thanks in advance for your help. I have not come up with their description yet but will do so in time.  Thanks in advance!
